Saudi Arabia has released detailed pictures of Maqam Ibrahim which is located at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques captured the details of the rare images with a new technique that uses stacked panoramic focus.
Maqam Ibrahim is the stone that bears the imprint of Prophet Ibrahim’s feet.
He stood on the stone while building the Kaaba when the walls became too high.
The stone has a gold, silver, and glass frame to preserve Prophet Ibrahim’s footprints.
“The shrine of the Prophet Ibrahim is a ruby from heaven.”, said the presidency.
It’s located in front of the door of the Kaaba, in an area leading to Safa and Marwa. The shrine has a square shape measuring 40cm in length and width, with a height of about 20cm.
The colour of Maqam Ibrahim is white, black, and yellow and measures 50cm in width, length, and height.
It’s marked by two footprints and has remained adjacent to the sacred Kaaba as one of the landmarks of Makkah throughout Islamic history.
