About 7,000 carpets have been spread out at the Prophet’s Mosque in line with the directives of the Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.
The carpets were rolled out during morning prayers on Thursday, Muharram 1, which marks the beginning of the Islamic New Year.
According to Saudi Gazette, the installation of the carpets is in compliance with the precautionary measures while ensuring a physical distance between worshipers.
Three worshipers will be allowed to use one carpet and a distance of 180 cm will be implemented between two worshipers.
